A trend on social media platform X Sunday morning is #BoycottNaturals. One may wonder why. It is because of the views of CK Kumaravel, CEO and co-founder of Naturals Salon, on Savarkar that he expressed on X, formerly Twitter.
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks during an election campaign in Maharashtra’s Kalyan, where he said, “I challenge INDI alliance leaders to say five sentences on greatness of Veer Savarkar”, Kumaravel listed out some.
He wrote in a post on X on May 16 that Savarkar is a “coward”, “co-conspirator in Gandhi’s assassination”, “expert in writing mercy petitions”.
Further, he added that Savarkar “brainwashed” the “mentally ill” Godse in killing Gandhi, and also called him a “Hindutva maniac”.
As the trend #BoycottNaturals started trending, Kumaravel in a post on X on Sunday said, “If you like our hair stylists work, come again. If you find our services value for money? If not try alternatives.
“Will you board aircraft because the pilot is having the same political affiliation or will you do a heart surgery because the doctor is having the same religious faith?,” the entrepreneur added.
Due to his views, one user wrote on X, “Never set foot in Naturals salon again.”
Another wrote, “All Hindus, please stop going to Naturals saloon. Their founder is anti-Hindu.”
Kumaravel had earlier joined the Kamal Haasan-led Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). However, a year later in 2019, he quit the party citing internal politics.
